One Dubai team from pickup to delivery
A freight forwarder should do more than reserve carrier space. We compare suitable routes, check the commercial documents before departure, coordinate the booking, follow the shipment, prepare the Dubai clearance and arrange delivery to the consignee. Keeping those handoffs under one coordinator reduces avoidable delays and gives the importer one contact when plans change.
Most of the cost overruns we are asked to fix are not freight problems. They are handover problems: an invoice that does not match the packing list, a free-zone consignee declared as mainland, a container that sat past its free time because nobody was watching the arrival date. Those failures happen in the gaps between suppliers, carriers, brokers and hauliers. Removing the gaps is the actual service.
PSL Arabia has operated since 2010 and works across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and India. The Dubai office in Port Saeed, Deira handles UAE movements directly rather than passing them to a third party, which is what lets one coordinator answer for the whole shipment.
Air, sea and GCC road freight
Air cargo moves through Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC). DXB carries the widest scheduled network; DWC sits inside the Dubai South logistics district and is often the better gateway when the cargo is oversized or the consignee is based in that area. The right choice follows the booked carrier and the delivery point, not a default.
Sea freight moves primarily through Jebel Ali Port — the largest container port in the Middle East, operated by DP World — and through Port Rashid, which is closer to the Deira office and handles general cargo. Equipment can include standard and high-cube containers, reefer units, open-top, flat-rack and breakbulk where the carrier accepts the cargo.
Road freight covers the seven emirates and cross-border movements into Saudi Arabia via the Al Ghuwaifat crossing and into Oman via Hatta. Cross-border road cargo carries its own document and border requirements, which are confirmed before the truck is booked rather than at the frontier.
Import, export and cross-trade support
We handle UAE imports and exports, re-exports, free-zone movements and cross-trade coordination where the cargo never touches the UAE but the contract is managed from Dubai. Scope can include supplier collection, bills of lading or air waybills, certificate and chamber documentation, customs clearance, storage and last-mile delivery.
Cross-trade in particular benefits from a single coordinator, because the buyer, the seller and the cargo are in three different jurisdictions and the documents have to satisfy all of them. Getting the transport document and the certificate of origin right at the point of issue is far cheaper than amending them later.
A complete freight quote request usually contains:
- Origin and destination, with full addresses if the scope is door to door
- Commodity description, and the HS code if the shipper already has one
- Package count, individual dimensions and gross weight
- Whether the consignee is mainland or in a free zone
- Required delivery date or the deadline the cargo is working to
- Any special handling: temperature range, dangerous goods class, MSDS, lifting points
Choosing a mode without guessing
Mode selection is a landed-cost question, not a freight-price question. Air freight carries a higher rate per kilogram but compresses the working capital tied up in cargo, avoids demurrage exposure and suits shipments where a production line is waiting. Sea freight is materially cheaper per unit of volume but adds transit time and, for full containers, port free-time deadlines that have to be actively managed.
Road freight into the GCC frequently beats both on total time for regional movements, because there is no port or terminal handling step at either end. For a shipment from Dubai to the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, the truck is often on site before a sea booking would have been loaded.
We quote the options we can actually book rather than a theoretical cheapest. Where two modes are genuinely close, both are shown with the trade-off stated, so the decision sits with the person who knows what the cargo is for.
Industries we move cargo for
The group works across oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, renewables, e-commerce, consumer and retail, chemicals, automobiles, and agriculture and farm equipment. In practice that translates into shipment types rather than specialisms: energy equipment and industrial machinery, temperature-controlled healthcare cargo, building materials, automotive parts, textiles, furniture and retail stock.
Each of those has a document profile that decides whether clearance is routine or slow. Controlled commodities need approvals in place before arrival, temperature-sensitive cargo needs an agreed range and suitable packaging before booking, and dangerous goods move only with correct declarations, packing and carrier acceptance. Telling us the commodity accurately at quote stage is what keeps it routine.
Frequently asked questions
What does a freight forwarding company in Dubai handle?
A Dubai freight forwarder can arrange carrier booking, shipping documents, cargo tracking, customs-clearance coordination, local transport, warehousing and final delivery. PSL Arabia combines these services under one shipment coordinator so the importer has a single point of contact rather than four.
How do I get a freight quote in Dubai?
Send the origin, destination, commodity, package count, dimensions, gross weight and required delivery date. For hazardous, temperature-controlled or oversized cargo, include the MSDS, temperature range or cargo drawings. Quotes are itemised so the freight, clearance and delivery components are visible separately.
Can you provide door-to-door freight?
Yes. Door-to-door scope can include origin pickup, export formalities, international freight, Dubai customs clearance and delivery across the UAE, subject to the shipment and destination requirements.
How much does freight forwarding cost from Dubai?
Rates depend on route, mode, chargeable weight or volume, commodity, equipment and the services included. We do not publish freight rates because carrier pricing changes frequently and a stale figure is misleading. Send the shipment details for a current itemised quote.
Do you handle both imports and exports?
Yes — UAE imports, exports, re-exports, transit and free-zone movements, plus cross-trade shipments coordinated from Dubai where the cargo moves between two other countries.
Which Dubai ports and airports do you work through?
Sea freight moves primarily through Jebel Ali and Port Rashid; air cargo through Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC). Khalifa Port and KIZAD, Sharjah, Fujairah and Ajman can be arranged where the carrier routing or the consignee's location makes them a better fit.
